After purchasing your set of House in a Boxtm plans you’re ready to move ahead in the building process. A satisfactory building experience is directly related to the competence and reliability of the contractor you hire. We know at House in a Boxtm we will be providing you with an excellent product but also want to assist, if you desire our help, in securing a project manager/builder to provide the supervision necessary to complete your home. This is how that can work:

  1. Your designated House in a Boxtm customer service representative will set up an appointment with the Manager of the closest 84 Lumber/Probuild Manufacturer to your point of build.
  2. You can meet with the Manager at the closest showroom to actually see the high quality of cabinets, doors, windows, etc. being used in the construction of our House in a Boxtm homes.
  3. The Store Manager can then arrange for you to meet and interview several of their recommended project managers/builders. The supervisory responsibilities of this person would include those listed on the budget spreadsheet included in your plan purchase that are not covered by House in a Boxtm. You can see a more general list of what is provided by owner. We recommend that you take adequate time to find the right person to build your structure. Some important things to keep in mind while doing so would include asking:
    • Do they have solid experience over many years and can they supply the names of satisfied customers?
    • Is it a good personality match? You’ll be working closely with this person.
    • Do they have a reputation for dependability and not cutting corners? (Everyone talks a good game when trying to get business.)
    • Ask for an explanation of how your work will be handled, timetable and the subcontractors that may be used.
    • Do they have a good reputation? Check with the local better Business Bureau as well as with others in the building trades. In this business “word gets around” when people are good or bad.
    • Are they able to establish with you the requirements for a completion schedule, solving unanticipated problems, job site cleanliness and overall performance? A good mutual understanding of expectations on both ends is important.
  4. It is entirely your decision as to whom you will use to oversee the completion of your House in a Boxtm. It is our desire to provide you with the ability to make a one source purchase of materials needed to build our beautifully designed, efficient homes and, if needed, aid you in locating the right source to quickly assemble your system anywhere you choose.
